Presidents Report

What a turnout. The 2 Day open at Rosebud on the 3rd and 4th May was a great event. We had 60 more riders than last year and both days thrilled the spectators with some close riding in all classes. If you didn’t get the chance to come down and ride or watch then you missed out.

The tracks were in great condition although we could have done without the rain on Friday Night and Saturday for the Juniors. The changes to the track that were carried out in January proved themselves with no lakes forming on the track as they did last year. In fact it only became a little boggy and held up really well with the big bikes on it.

We had a lot of good feedback on the junior track from the visiting A Grade Riders, like Bondini and Mcnally and even our A Grade Vets. The General consensus was a big thumbs up on the New Junior Track. “Yes it is a tight track, but only because it is a very technical Track that will sort the men from the boys” was one comment we had. A big thanks to Beau Crighton from Dirt Works, and the members that helped design and build the track. The New spectator mound, although not completely finished was a great success and got a big work out over the day.

The new corner on the Senior Track proved to be a challenge for most riders with mixed reactions. The track seemed to whoop out a bit more than it has in the past and this is probably due to the excessive rain we had. But it is sand and we expect it to react that way and whoop out.

I would like to thanks all members that helped get the track and grounds ready for the weekend. It is a big task getting set up for an event. The New Junior Gates went in the week before and fences went up on the days prior. There is still a lot of work to be done but once it is finished setting up for any event will get much easier. Thanks also to the members that helped run the days and step in where we needed help, such as flagging when we came up short. Without these members the event would be a shambles. I would also like to make a special mention and thanks to the few members that helped clean up and pack up on Sunday night. So Thank you Gerard Toohey, Phil and Sharon Stewardson, Andrew Lambie, Wayne and Linda Davis, Peter and Mandy Allen, Tom and Kylie Gowans Stefan and Mel Fitzpatrict and Simmo. A extra special thanks to Peter Toohey, Guy Stewardson and Ben Staff who cleaned up the rubbish from the Gun Club grounds and did a final sweep on our grounds. You time and effort is greatly appreciated by all members and I personally apologise that we did not have more helpers allowing you to get home at a reasonable time like the others.

All in all the Tracks and Club are slowly getting to a point where it will be much easier to set up and pack up. We have just purchased a 50 kva generator which will see power to our grounds at all points needed with out using the small generators. At the same time we will run speaker cable and Cat 5 computer cable to allow us to run screens when transponders become the norm.

Anyway I have waffled on enough for this report. I look forward to seeing you all at the next round of our Club MX.

Until then Safe Riding

President

We prefer to email newsletters rather than print and post them which involves more money and time.

In an attempt to communicate efficiently we would like you to sign up to recieve your newsletter via email. You will also receive short-notice updates, such as reminders that the track is closed in the event of a Total Fire Ban etc.

Here are some of the advantages of receiving email up dates:

* You will always have the latest information available to you
* You will save the club money in copying and postage, which in turn will help keep membership costs down
* Every/any member of a family can recieve their own copy of the newsletter, so kids sign up and you don't have to wait for Mum or Dad to check their email.
* Non-members are welcome to sign up to receive our newsletter to find out what we do at RDMC.
